Rover 25 sill fix

The Old Rover 25 remains almost rust free after 19 years, though there was one strange little hole at the rear of the left sill.

The rest of the car looks fine, but this is an ugly little hole.

Cutting the rust out reveals a clean inner sill. There is even some coating inside that looks like a form of galvanising. Perhaps the coating had not reached the end of this sill.  The cut was larger than the actual hole, so the rear end was removed up to the flange.

 I made a repair panel.
Here the repair is welded in place.
After some finishing the sill looks fine again.
Ready for another 19 years?
