After many years of hard work it was about time the Wagoneer got some new front brakes. At first I just wanted to change the disks and pads, but it turned out the pistons could not be pushed in without getting stuck. So I got some new calipers too.
A rivet had come loose and damaged the disk and pad.
Bleeding the brakes is a one-person job with this homemade brakepedal holding tool.
The tool is made from a squarish piece of steel with a hole in the middle and a long threaded rod. Simple stuff. You push the brakes with your foot and then fix the pedal with the tool by putting the end of the rod on the pedal and the thread jams in the plate on the seat. The hole in the plate is not threaded. it's only slightly bigger than the rod, so the plate can be fixed easily by the tilting action so it catches on the thread.
Those pretty new disk and pads!
And new Calipers too!
The old pistons were damaged and replacement was not too expensive anyway.
