Last year I removed the thermostat from the CJ/Ford engine. It seemed to work quite well without, but it took a while to warm up. Blanking the radiator with a pizzabox helped a lot, but I decided a thermostat is better. So I fitted a new one. At first it seems to open up really late as the temp gauge was at 100c before it opened. But later it seemed to work much better.
So I'll see how the jeep temperatures behave from now. I think the CJ needs to behave for a while now, so I can get some use out of it. I gave it plenty of attention lately with the starter, cable, gearbox, thermostat, temp gauge,new oil,grease and swivelbearings, I need to spend time on the Wolseley Ten now and when spring comes the other cars will want attention too!
