Had a nice roundtrip from Phoenix by freeway 60 to Florence, then the 79-77 to Oracle. In San Manuel we tried to find the "Arizona trail" we didn't realise it was the main street we were looking for..., so we got onto FR 38 by an interesting trail. Beautiful and narrow in some places. Winding up the mountain to the Catalina Highway. There we camped at Bigelow Mountain in the forest. No one around!
Next day we left just in time for the rain. Drove down the mountain into Tuscon. Decided wet weather is not what we like to see there, so we decided to head for Bisbee. A pretty old mining town. We stayed in a Sierra Vista motel because thunderstorms were brewing.
Thursday we took to the beautiful trail at Pomerene to Redington and on to Mammoth, But we took a wrong turn and ended in friendly San Manuel again. From there to Oracle and route 77 to Catalina state park for a nice camping near Tuscon. Today we went for a cultural diversion in the Tuscon Museum of art. Nice pre Colombian art and Western art. After that we drove to the San Xavier de Bac Mission to see the old church and with a scenic detour through the Saguaro park, past Maran and past the Pinal air park(Obsolete airliner storage) we finally ended up in Phoenix again. .
