A loose bolt in the Wolseley 18/85 steering link
There was this strange up and down play in the steering wheel of the 18/85. Turned out the bolt of the clamp that connects the steering column to the rack was loose. I was relieved I could just tighten the bolt after removing the lh wheel. All seems well now. It's a known event on these cars. probably even a service item. I'll make it an item to check periodically.
