A new Austin: Some cutting edge design features.

Finally there's a new Austin proposal from the ADS (Austin Design Shed) department. It is not certain if this prototype will reach production as a roadster, coupe or cocktail bar. But this is cutting edge...

It started with the stripped shell of a fresh Austin 1800 Mk1 body

 

Lopping the roof off was easy

 

Then the rear was cut off

 

The sill construction is impressive and very strong

 

Now the floor was cut just after the bulkhead

 

Actually the car was beyond repair: quite severe rust in the floor and sills and many missing parts.  

 

It is amazing how strong this body is. Even after all these years.
